So there, it’s a try at Blind Contour. The Blind Contour Friday thingee was initiated by the incredible Niff and Sutter at Inkfinger. It was done in china ink and I cheated a little bit.

Pour les francophones, c’est le contour aveugle (traduction mot-à-mot), un croquis sans lever son crayon et sans regarder le papier. J’ai fait ça à la plume et à l’encre de chine et en trichant un peu (j’ai regardé le papier une ou deux ou trois fois). C’est mon café d’après le déjeuner et ça coule un peu.

    okay, I can’t speak french..but I think it looks great for a first try.

    and yeah, quill pens are really hard to use, doing this. I don’t recomend them…the tip of your pen will hate you afterwards.

    after spending some time with my quill pen, I decided that a fine liner was not so bad after all…

    Very nice lines! And I really like how the drawing on the next page bleeds through.

    I wish there was a way to do blind contours with a quill too. Quill lines are definitely the most interesting, so I think any line drawing would benefit from the thicks and thins…

    Maybe just drawing a blind contour in pencil, and then going over it with the quill (while looking) is worth a try. It’s cheating… but not as much. :)

    I love the lines of the quill, but perhaps I’ll try sketching with a pencil at first, then ink it with the quill… but anyway, I wanted to try and I kinda like the result
